A mask is something a person puts on their face to mask who they are and seal their identity. I didn't want to use a literal mask in my picture, so my idea was more of a figurative mask.

When people go out into the world, they often hide their true self from other people. They don't let a lot of people see their true identity. But, when they're alone in their house or their room, they're free to be whoever they want. They are able to take the "mask" that they put on for everyone else, off when they are alone in their room.

I used the sign in this picture to symbolize the character's desire to be alone in the room. I also used the lighting as a symbol as well. I kept the hallway dark to symbolize the character's view of the outside world not being a place where she likes to be. And I used the bright yellow lights in the room to symbolize the "warmth" of the bedroom in the eyes of the character.
