What is your definition of home? In my opinion, everyones definition is different. Some people feel at peace when they are at home and some people feel the complete opposite. My definition: crazy. I have three sisters and a brother all living under the same roof. We each have our own role in our house and our family dinners seem incomplete when one of us isn't there. We kind of fit together like a puzzle so when one of us is missing, things don't seem right, so the roles we all lead are very important to the home dynamic. But, my moms role changed a lot in the past year. That's what I decided to highlight in my picture.

Last year, when my mom and stepdad got divorced and he moved out, my moms role as co-parent of five in our home, drastically changed. She now had to do everything other own with no help. She cooks, cleans, buys groceries, takes us to appointments, entertain the babies, and still manages to have time to do fun things too. I can imagine it can be pretty stressful a lot of the time, especially because her role changed pretty quickly.

In my photo, I wanted to exaggerate the mom character's feeling of stressed and overwhelmed. I decided to have her cooking and on the phone, since those are natural activities of a parent. But, the extra characters are the things that add to the environment. I had the two older kids trying to get the moms attention for her to look at the two papers while the younger kids are basically using the mom character as a jungle gym. This all symbolizes the kids constant dependence on her and her impressive ability to still manage all of it.
