I found inspiration in a lot of Edward Steichen's photography. I specifially found inspiration through his portraits, though. He took many different portraits but this one stood out to me. It;s not a typical portrait of a couple smiling, like you would see today, but it still shows the same love and affection the couple has for each other.
In my photo, I wanted to create the same idea that Steichen's photo made, but with the characters having more light-hearted facial expressions. This is why I had my models smiling and not looking at the camera.
I wanted the house in the background of my picture because I used it as a symbol of the life that the couple built together. I felt this was more powerful than if I were to just use a plain background because it shows what they have been through together.
